§ 01 · About the project

First Beat, Next Vibe was the percussion duo of Anastasiu and Lucian Maxim between 2009 and 2011, in a vibraphone + multi-percussion line-up (marimba, drum kit, etno instruments). The project drew on support from Radio România for a ten-city tour, with programmes that blended improvisation, original compositions, and arrangements with etno colouring.

From the repertoire, on the official YouTube channel @nowvibe (recordings 2009–2011): Sucuba, Joy (with Lucian Maxim), Etno 5, After You, Let's Vibe. A public appearance: 21 April 2011, Teatrul Masca (Bucharest).

The project is now closed as an active formula, but it marks the first sustained public collaboration between Anastasiu and an equal percussion partner — a line that would continue, years later, with Cosmin Dumitriu and the Power Vibes ensemble.
